Collett Manor Background
What is it? The specific site and building plans address two main support services for the Kelowna General Hospital – Residential Accommodation and Office related uses that benefit from proximity to the hospital but are not integral to be included within the formal KGH campus. The Residential Accommodation has been designed to be flexible and scalable with regard to the length of occupancy and the number of tenants and has been inclusive by providing fully accessible units. The site is a 1.177 acre or 48,649 sq ft property that encompasses 2149 to 2189 Pandosy Street, and is owned by Pandosy Street Developments Ltd. (Ross and Alana Marrington). Kelowna General Hospital is across the street and shopping services are 1km south and 1.5 kms north. The beach is short walk away (1 1/2 blocks) and transit stops are in close proximity. Why develop it?After (18+) years of traveling the province to be with family and friends as they endured their medical situations, we know how frustrating and draining it can be, both emotionally and financially. We have used the services and accommodations many times in many countries that we are proposing. Key support services become vital and the closer the better for some people. We also recognise that people who serve in the health related sciences often live close to their work. It is our vision to help people by providing a one more choice, offers all the comforts of home and is easily accessible to the hospital so they can focus their efforts of wellness and supporting their loved ones.Collett Manor will fulfill a long-standing need for amenities for the community. Major medical “destinations” worldwide and in our own province, such as what are proposed by this development are available at a much larger scale. Throughout my worldwide travels and meetings with CEO's of multi national hospitals, physicians, oncologists, surgeons, stem cell reseachers, patients and their care givers to name a few, I discovered the before and aftercare amenities is paramount to quality outcomes. It is our turn to provide our regional tertiary hospital and community the same caliber of amenities and services. |
